In the year 1961-62, only 1555 power-driven pumps started irrigation activities at the beginning of BADC. In 1967-68, BADC established deep tube well and began to use underground water in irrigation and started supplying and supplying shallow tube wells in the year 1972-73 for the purpose of increasing the use of irrigation works and food production. Currently, 167175 power driven pumps (LLPs), 36566 deep tube wells and 15,49711 shallow tubewells are being used for irrigation. In addition to this, some manual and traditional methods of irrigation are operated by the machinery, in total, 54.48 lakh hectares have been provided irrigation in the Boro season (BADC survey report 2014-15) across the country. BADC is working on the construction of rubber dam to complete irrigation works under ground water conservation and gravity flow system. Already 4 rubber dams have been built and a project is being implemented to set up a rubber dam ohhydric elevated dam. BADC (Small Sections) operates similar irrigation programs in different districts like Lakshmipur of Chittagong division. Apart from providing training on BADC irrigation management, repair and maintenance, the use of irrigation water has been made acceptable to the farmer. At present, BADC is implementing various projects / programs for the development of small initiatives.
